IBM Watson Health - Cognos Business Intelligence Administrator in St Louis, Missouri
The Cognos Business Intelligence administrator is an application administration resource that supports the Cognos Business Intelligence application for deployment projects and ongoing operations. This role will ensure that the Cognos Business Intelligence application deployed for GovHHS client meet all service level agreements for available and performance during production operations.
The Cognos Business Intelligence administrator will be a member of the Platform Services team for GovHHS and could interface with multiple internal and external teams to understand the solution requirements and coordinate the appropriate setup, configuration, and troubleshooting of issues.
The Cognos Business Intelligence administrator works with system administrators and other support resources to ensure routine maintenance, upgrades and daily support of the Cognos Business Intelligence application solutions.
Candidates will have access to highly sensitive public record information and thus all new hires and current employees in positions of this level will be subject to periodic background checks.
Work with internal business and customer teams to understand Cognos Business Intelligence solution requirements.
Collaborate with business units, data owners and IT to successfully support the customer solution.
Ensuring the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the Cognos Business Intelligence solutions and the integration into a custom Data Warehouse infrastructure consisting Linux/Unix application servers and Oracle Exadata appliances, in an accurate and timely manner.
Interface with the business and customer teams pertaining to all technical Cognos Business Intelligence application matters.
Continually review and suggest improvements to the application configuration and support processes and policies.
Document Cognos Business Intelligence application design and provide knowledge transfer for support and administration tasks.
Performance Management & Monitoring - Implement and manage processes and applications to proactively monitor the health and welfare of the Cognos Business Intelligence application environments to address concerns and issues before they happen.
Cognos Business Intelligence Application Availability Management - Develop and manage processes designed to meet or exceed services levels for infrastructure availability.
Maintenance & Configuration Management - Ensure effective processes are in place to continuously refresh/upgrade the Cognos Business Intelligence application and maintain proper patch levels, and proactively apply security patches.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
5+ years of Cognos Business Intelligence application administration experience
5+ years of experience working with external customers
5+ years of experience working as a technical project manager
Experience with the following
RHEL Linux system administration
Windows Active Directory and LDAP
Network attached storage technologies including SAN, NFS, and ZFS
Cognos Business Intelligence software packages regarding installation, sizing, and integration
Demonstrated strong analytical skills
Demonstrated strong partnering skills
Demonstrated strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Proven knowledge of estimation processes
Ability to multi-task amongst several priorities
Preferred Tech and Prof Experience
- 5 years’ experience supporting Cognos Business Intelligence application on multi-tiered Linux servers
