IBM Technical Program Manager - IBM Cloud for Financial Services in St Louis, Missouri

Your Role and Responsibilities

This person may reside and work in EITHER the greater Dallas, Raleigh/Durham-Chapel Hill/Research Triangle Park (RTP) OR Austin Metropolitan Areas

As a Program Manager with the IBM Cloud for Financial Services team, you will apply your strategic and analytical skills to lead complex programs spanning technology, process improvement, and go to market programs. You will team with the best technology professionals to develop strategies that establish Financial Services Cloud’s market imminence and delight our customers. And, you will do this in a collaborative environment that values your insight, encourages you to take on new responsibilities, promotes continuous learning, and rewards innovative and out-of-the-box thinking. Responsibility includes execution design and oversight to ensure teams remain on track to succeed with adherence to IBM policies and standards. This oversight includes:

  • Well thought out project plans

  • Strong stakeholder participation and engagement

  • Metrics to demonstrate progress

  • Regular assessments of risks and issues

  • Critical evaluation of proposed solutions

  • Risk-based approaches in developing schedules

Key Responsibilities...

  • Drive definition of program/project requirements and deliverables by identifying, driving and participating in project milestones and phases, as well as specific action items

  • Assist in determining recommendations and strategy with respect to related initiatives, including translating analysis and results into business strategy

  • Establish goals and review metrics to identify opportunities and deliver success

  • Coordinate the execution activities of the program across all work streams, including partnering closely with colleagues across IBM Service leads, Offering Managers, Solution Architects, Development/Engineering, Support and others to drive improvements in quality, availability, and customer satisfaction

  • Manage overall delivery and scope of the schedule, communications, risks, escalations, issues, dependencies and tracking all deliverables and milestones and resources

  • Monitor the performance details and status of program/project; work closely with the delivery team to understand and facilitate technical discussions and address technical challenges impacting delivery

  • Combine Project Management expertise with an understanding of the cloud technology, DevOps and agile methodologies to deliver software services on cloud

  • Develop and deliver effective communications with senior management regarding progress, recommendations and decisions

  • Actively participate and collaborate in workstream meetings and ad hoc working sessions including driving agendas, preparing meeting minutes and keeping track of agreed actions

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 7+ years of proven experience and depth managing technology programs

  • Knowledge of public cloud offerings and technologies in IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure or GCP

  • Hands on experience leading teams with Scrum, Kanban and modern project/task management tools; e.g. Jira, Aha!

  • Ability to build trust and strong partnership with counterparts across complex matrix organizations

  • Accomplished problem-solving, organization, and cross-team coordination skills

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and ability to articulate complex ideas, concepts, and solutions at the senior management level

  • Proven leader and influencer with the ability to think on their feet and be able to apply critical thinking and logical/structured framework to shape program’s approach

  • Strong personnel and organizational management skills, including expertise in issue and conflict resolution and the ability to effectively build, mentor, lead, and develop staff

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • PMP, CSM or ITIL certification

  • Hands on experience delivering cloud solutions and migrating workloads to public cloud

  • Technology offering launch and product go to market

  • Proficient with project management tools, agile tools, Kanban methods, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
