IBM Research Staff Member- Lead, AI Reasoning in St Louis, Missouri
Have you read about our recent announcement on the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab? Are you interested in shaping the future of AI? The MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab is one of the largest long-term university industry AI collaborations to date. Our Lab is a place where scientists, professors, and students collaborate to drive the frontiers of AI. If you're interested in working with some of the world's most talented researchers to advance AI, we have an opportunity for you!
At IBM Research, we aim to lead, and we diligently craft a work environment that inspires brilliant and thoughtful work. We love being first: our AI systems were the first to challenge world champions in chess, backgammon, and Jeopardy! In Quantum, Neuromorphic and Parallel computing, we're pioneering architectures to power the future of AI. We love deep, long term research: we publish in top AI journals and conferences such as NIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, IJCAI, and AAAI, and have been recognized with Turing Awards, Nobel and Kavli Prizes, National Medals of Science and of Technology, and the most patents for 24 years running! We love data and scalability: our Watson Health business gives our AI researchers access to enormous volumes and varieties of data, and the opportunity to revolutionize technology that is already saving lives. We love benefiting the world with AI that Matters: Healthcare, Life Sciences, Cybersecurity, and Regulatory Compliance are just a few of IBM's application areas for the results of fundamental AI research. We love collaborating widely and openly across our research and product teams, amongst our 12 global research labs, and with the global research community, including the top academic institutions in our AI Horizons Network.
We are looking for a talented research scientist who is as excited as we are about artificial intelligence, advancing science, and inventing the next generation of intelligent machines, and can lead and inspire a group of research scientists in teaching computers to reason. It is a technical position intended to recognize individuals with a clearly superior record of sustained technical achievement and strong potential for continuing contribution to IBM's growth. The ideal candidate should demonstrate clear technical leadership preferably in areas related to as many as possible of machine reasoning, deep learning, NL understanding knowledge representation, and representation learning, be able to drive growth in both business and technical communities, and be deeply and broadly collaborative across many areas both inside and outside IBM. This is a leadership role, and we expect the successful candidate to participate and have an effect beyond the normal job scope.
