We, the Economic Research Division of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, are looking for you, an excellentOpen Source Web Software Developer.

Providing access to data, educating the public, and partnering with data providers is an essential part of the mission of the Economic Research Division and the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.

A little about you: As our Open Source Web Software Developer on the FRED agile team, you will lead the design, testing, and implementation of a new microservice, cloud-based (AWS) architecture for the FRED and family of applications, including ALFRED and GeoFRED. You also will support full-stack, open source development in the current architecture. Additionally, you will provide guidance to management on the future technical direction of the applications. * * Responsibilities * Perform as the lead solution architect which includes designing and documenting Research web applications with an interest in the underlying frameworks and infrastructure, including AWS cloud solutions. * Lead the development of web applications integrating with the Research public websites, test them before deploying applications to QA environment and assist in deploying to production * Incorporate secure coding practices and security testing into application development process * Resolve any technical issues by using troubleshooting and analytical skills. * Advise management on technical direction and strategy based on expert level knowledge of web technologies. * Update application documentation to reflect new functionality and ensure procedures remain current as well. * Mentor fellow team members on technology and standards

Qualifications * Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field or commensurate experience * 5 years’ experience with open source web application development with preferred experience in the following: o Experience with object-oriented programming such as PHP, Ruby o Experience with JavaScript, CSS, HTML o Experience with containerization like Docker o Experience designing and creating applications that use a microservice architecture o Experience writing automated tests o Experience with JavaScript frameworks jQuery and ReactJS o Experience performance tuning web applications o Experience creating search engine optimized (SEO) websites o Experience designing and documenting complex applications o Experience with SQL and database systems o Experience with Git version control software o Experience using AWS services o Experience developing in an agile environment * Candidates with less experience may be hired at a lower job grade or salary * Travel (5%) Benefits
