World Wide Technology, Inc. is currently seeking an Open Infrastructure Business Development Manager (BDM) to grow our open infrastructure business. This strategic position will reside within the Open Systems and Solutions team as part of WWT's global engineering organization. This resource will be responsible for developing go to market relationships with hardware and software partners/communities critical to the open infrastructure capabilities, products, and solutions being implemented in the WWT Advanced Technology Center (ATC). By engaging both internal and external resources, the BDM will utilize WWT's capabilities, products, and solutions to develop and maintain a sales funnel for our open infrastructure practice. The BDM will support WWT's sales teams efforts to fully qualify open infrastructure sales opportunities, engage partner/community resources in support of the opportunities, and support the sales teams as they drive them to closure.

In collaboration with the Open Infrastructure practice lead, executives, regional architects, and sales leadership, the BDM will:

  • Develop the principal and foundational value proposition for WWT's Open Infrastructure business by collecting valuable customer and industry data and mapping that data to WWT assets

  • Work closely with WWT's marketing team to create a brand related to Open Infrastructure capabilities, products, and solutions, including presentations, marketing material and WWT's public website

  • Maintain and expand relationships within partner field sales and services organizations

  • Maintain and expand relationships with open communities/foundations

  • Understand and leverage any/all partner programs and promotions in an effort to increase win rate as well as increasing margin contribution

  • Tightly monitor the industry's competitive situation and integrate that knowledge into WWT's strategy and value proposition

  • Provide regular training and updates to WWT's field sales force

  • Deliver strategy workshops to customers

  • Deliver proposals and value propositions

  • Identifies trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements

Qualifications

Minimum of five years of sales or business development experience

Experience building and/or representing financial models to support the business case surrounding technology solutions

Excellent presentation skills, especially in representing technical solutions to a non-technical audience

Knowledge of key open infrastructure technologies and products such as:

  • Linux, Ubuntu, RHEL

  • KVM, RHEV

  • OVS, OVN, network overlays (e.g. Calico) and SD-WAN

  • Ansible, Ansible Tower

  • Openstack, Red Hat Openstack Platform (OSP)

  • Ceph, Gluster, and Swift/Swiftstack

  • Kubernetes, Openshift, and CoreOS

Knowledge of and engagement with key open source communities

  • Open Compute Project (OCP) and Rack19

  • Distributed Management Task Force -- Redfish and OpenBMC

  • Linux Foundation

  • Open Networking Foundation

  • Openstack Foundation

  • Cloud Native Computing Foundation

  • Open Software Defined Storage

Knowledge of compute, storage, and networking solutions, including the following technologies and products:

  • Servers -- Cisco UCS, HPE ProLiant, Dell EMC PowerEdge, SMC, QCT

  • Storage -- NetApp, Dell EMC, HPE, Pure, Nimble, IBM

  • Networking -- Cisco, Juniper, HPE, Dell EMC

Knowledge of core open infrastructure technologies, capabilities, and processes:

  • REST APIs and creating/manipulating YAML

  • Scripting (Python, Linux Shell/Bash or Ruby)

  • Github

  • CI/CD (Jenkins, TravisCI, Go CD or GitLab)

  • Dev Ops (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Terraform, Promethus or Stackify)

  • Message Brokers (RabbitMQ, Kafka, ActiveMQ, Kestrel or SQS)

  • A general knowledge of public cloud consumption models and how they compare to private cloud counterparts.

  • A background integrating Open Source technologies into multi-vendor environments.

Superior organizational, conflict resolution, time management and negotiation skills are required.
