The Leadership and Talent Development (L&TD) Consultant plays an integral role in Kemper Life’s field value proposition. Our industry is a knowledge business where strong talent and leaders are the key to our success. This position will impact strategic initiatives across the talent lifecycle and will be responsible for the design, development, and delivery of learning solutions for Kemper Life field leaders and emerging leaders. Under general direction, this role will evolve programs necessary to ensure a pipeline of leadership talent across Kemper Life’s field organization. The incumbent in this role will ensure we are developing the skills and capabilities of our leaders at all levels to support the evolutionary growth and transformation of our field organization. This is a highly visible position with significant exposure to senior level executives and the opportunity to be autonomous and creative, and innovative. This role will play a vital role in advancing Kemper Life’s unique culture and building a bench of leaders in our growth-oriented organization. The individual who holds this position exemplifies Kemper Corporation’s Strategic Intent, Customer-Focused positioning and embodies the Act Like an Owner Culture. The successful candidate should have excellent facilitation and content design experience, and must foster relationships effectively with team members, customer groups and business partners.

PRINICIPLE DUTIES:

Executes and supports the Kemper Life and Kemper Corporate strategies and initiatives. Collaborates with Centers of Excellence, partners with HR and business stakeholders to understand current and future business challenges to recommend high impact talent and leadership development solutions Designs innovative leadership development programs that include a blended learning approach such as coaching, classroom training, action learning and e-learning. Supports strategic initiatives across the talent lifecycle including succession planning, talent review, engagement and performance management. Uses strong project management practices and skills to assist with strategy and budget forecast for multi-work stream projects; plans, develops and implements learning solutions; keeps stakeholders engaged and informed. Designs and implements proactive communication and change management plans to ensure initiatives are well executed. Produces and facilitates talent and leadership development programs and workshops. Analyzes program effectiveness and recommends continuous improvement methods. Proactively engages in external research and knowledge sharing to stay current on talent and leadership development trends and best practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create comprehensive development solutions for key roles in field management and leadership positions

  • Enhance the learner experience, looking for new ways to integrate learning into the flow of work, increase learning consumption and satisfy learning needs

  • Execute the implementation of existing Leadership and Management Development solutions and processes to increase overall bench strength and capabilities

  • Act as a learning consultant and trusted advisor to the business

  • Create internal network of SMEs to effectively and efficiently develop impactful learning solutions

  • Develop and formalize processes to gather learning data, analyze and communicate training effectiveness and impact

  • Collaborate with key stakeholder groups to identify means and methods to improve learning effectiveness

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Training, or Education related field preferred

  • 5+ years of experience in a corporate or business setting

  • 3+ years of experience developing training solutions from the ground up (including but not limited to research, solution analysis, selection, solution design and development and implementation) in a business environment required

  • Technical aptitude and demonstrated experience leveraging learning technologies and tools that integrate with and support learning activities (such as LMS, TMS, online developmental tools and Key Microsoft Office tools) required

  • Experience demonstrating the effectiveness of learning solutions through measurement, analysis and reporting required

  • Design and development of instructional materials in a variety of media required

  • Must be flexible to deliver training in a variety of formats: classroom, virtual, on-the-job, synchronous, asynchronous, etc.

  • Sales training or sales industry experience preferred
