Monsanto Intern: Predictive Analytics (Deep Learning) in St. Louis, Missouri
The Predictive Analytics (Deep Learning) Intern will develop the cutting-edge highly predictive algorithm for precision & prescriptive placement model to maximize yield potential of our products in every grower’s field. You will support Climate’s efforts in Decision Agriculture by developing novel methods and leveraging big data to solve tasks that will disentangle the factors of variation from product performance, weather, and field characteristics to enable the field level advisor and better farmer experience. In addition, you will learn the decision-making process in Climate’s product development pipeline, to gain experience in implementing Big Data analytics models in the Ag industry.
What You Will Do:
Support Climate’s efforts in Decision Agriculture by developing novel methods and leveraging big data to solve tasks that will disentangle the factors of variation from product performance, weather, and field characteristics to enable the field level advisor and better farmer experience
Learn the decision-making process in Climate’s product development pipeline to gain experience in implementing Big Data analytics models in the Ag industry.
Must be currently enrolled in a Ph.D. degree program in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research, or a related discipline with a focus on machine learning (deep learning)
Theoretical or practical experience of deep learning research: autoencoders and Restricted Boltzmann Machines for feature abstraction; general Deep Learning algorithms such as Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Recurrent Neural Network (RNN).
Demonstrated programming skills with R or Python or Java, and related deep learning packages
Demonstrated experience in using certain open-source deep learning packages (e.g., TensorFlow) to solve real-world problems
Familiarity with spatial predictive modeling
Familiarity with heterogeneous modeling
Data mining and managing of large data sets
Ability and inclination to work in multi-disciplinary environments, and desire to see ideas realized in practice
Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills
