Instructional Designer

Position Summary:

The Instructional Designer will design and develop modular training and education content for both internal and external learners with high standards of quality, efficiency, and scalability using various mediums. The goal is to facilitate learners in acquiring knowledge, skills and competencies to support health care transformation using innovative strategies and technology in an effective and authentic manner.

Job Description:

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work with Senior Instructional Designers, Education and Client Services leadership and Subject Matter Experts to identify the target audience’s training needs.

  • Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product while building storyboards and prototypes.

  • Apply tested instructional design theories, practices and methods

  • Design and develop new training modules using industry-standard development tools

  • Create engaging and compelling curriculum, content, and supporting materials using various mediums to enhance the learning process for optimal retention and adoption of processes and technologies used in the transformation of health care.

  • Create and deploy online help content.

  • Assist in the creation of product release note documentation for external audiences.

  • Proofread and edit own work and work of others to improve quality, readability, consistency, and effectiveness of documentation.

  • Ensure that all information is consistent, easy to understand, and well organized.

  • Maintain existing curriculum, content, supporting materials and product documentation on a regular cadence.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience, Qualifications, and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, marketing/communications, graphic design, instructional design/technology or relevant experience.

  • 3-5 years of experience in curriculum design, training/education for web-based systems, information systems, software technology, and/or healthcare applications.

  • Ability to write effective copy, highly technical instructional text, audio/video scripts and comprehensive storyboards.

  • Solid knowledge of and experience with using industry-standard eLearning platforms (Captivate preferred, Articulate).

  • Demonstrated experience with visual design and page layout (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).

  • Experience using RoboHelp as a help authoring tool.

  • Ability to understand and communicate concepts quickly and accurately.

  • Experience working with a Learning Management System.

  • Creative thinker and innovator.

  • Demonstrated technological aptitude.

  • Experience interfacing with stakeholders and clarifying project expectations.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and confidently.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience working in an Agile product development environment preferred.

  • Strong expertise in MS Office and PowerPoint required.

  • Ability to prioritize, schedule and meet tight deadlines.

  • Experience in the health care industry a plus.
