IBM Automation Architect – Business Process Automation in St Louis, Missouri

Your Role and Responsibilities

In support of this vision, IBM GBS (Global Business Services) are looking for an energetic, results-oriented Automation Technology Expert to build relationships with our key automation partners and our IBM GBS client facing team in North America. This role will create new opportunities and experiences for our clients leveraging IBM digital technology and services.

This role will work with our end user community as well as our internal stake holders to architect and deploy Automation technologies to meet the customers business objectives. The ideal candidate should be able to understand and articulate our Intelligent Automation point of view including concepts such as process automation, workforce automation, RPA, artificial intelligence, machine learning and process discovery. This person must be able to thrive in our highly collaborative, digitally-driven and innovation-led environment. Lead the client on the journey of intelligent automation through game changing solutions in our inclusive culture that values diversity of ideas, experiences and backgrounds.


  • Assess automation opportunity from technical perspective and perform due diligence to arrive at an optimal solution

  • Define the technical framework considering all relevant artifacts including,

  • Security, compliance, access management

  • Application landscape integration requirements

  • Hosting & Environments including hybrid cloud, test, production, etc.

  • Evaluate RPA and AI tools and provide recommendations

  • System availability & timings

  • Anticipate, identify, track and resolve technical issues and risks affecting delivery

  • Assist development team in resolving technical problems

  • Assist Support teams to resolve issues

  • Coordinate and participate in structured peer reviews and walkthroughs

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 5+ years of proven successful experience in Automation technology arena

  • Consultative nature, skills and demonstrable client facing experience are required

  • Exceptional communication skills and a consultative approach in addressing our client and internal customer needs

  • Must have experience programing in one or more languages such as Java, C, Python

  • In depth knowledge in one or more RPA (Robotic Process Automation) like solutions, architecting and deploying

  • Large enterprise experience working with Automation technologies

  • Resourceful, creative and able to find innovative ways to achieve results

  • Experience presenting Automation technology concepts to business executives and technical teams

  • Detail oriented and highly skilled in staying focused amid complex situations
