Essential Functions

The Senior Prospect Research Analyst is a full time position reporting to an Associate Director of Research. The Senior Prospect Research Analyst is responsible for fulfilling research requests from senior university leadership and A&D; divisions for information of critical importance to the effective cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gift prospects for Washington University.

  • Perform in-depth prospect research, using online/electronic, print and confidential information; Develop detailed, concise, and comprehensive research profiles for use by senior university leadership and A&D; divisions as assigned; Successfully obtain information using prospect research techniques, online and periodical based research, searching of computerized databases and advanced web search strategies; Interpret and analyze acquired research data; Safeguard the confidentiality of donor information at all times; Uphold A&D; policies regarding confidential information; Adhere to ethical and confidentiality guidelines as indicated by the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA) as well as University guidelines; Produce and deliver service to clients based on departmental product standards within agreed timelines.

  • Perform in-depth proactive research to identify new prospects for the University, as assigned.

  • Accurately and efficiently maintain the ADIS database with newly acquired and updated research data and ensure that all relevant research information is accurately stored there and in internal tracking files as appropriate.

  • Researches, identifies and processes in ADIS decedent information from local newspaper and other sources; Scans documents to files, as needed.

  • Performs other research support functions as assigned.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. One year of experience in prospect research; will consider equivalent experience in academic or other non-profit development environment.

Superior attention to detail; outstanding communication skills; work well under deadlines; self-motivated and able to work independently; handle multiple projects simultaneously; in-depth knowledge of internet searching; ability to apply good judgment; handling of confidential information and situations with sensitivity and discretion; knowledge of non-profit sector; computer literacy with competency in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Word and Excel.

Salary Range

The hiring range for this position is $20.77 to $21.54 per hour. The average work week is 37.5 hours.
