Position Summary

The Senior Information Security Engineer assists in designing, developing, and implementing information security practices. This individual will assist in performing information security analysis and risk assessments. The Senior Information Security Engineer is responsible for both internal systems and external partner solutions. The Engineer will identify any critical security issues that may present risk and provide on an as needed basis evaluations of technology products, services and issues for risk determination. This individual will collaborate with Business Unites to mitigate identified risks and adhere to LMI policies, standards, controls, guidelines, and procedures.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Provides security and risk management services by performing risk identification, assessment, and remediation as well as regulatory and internal compliance monitoring using standards and processes as required to adequately protect personnel, facilities, infrastructure, information, and business operations.

  • Plans, creates, implements, and maintains security program documentation.

  • Performs system risk assessments, evaluation of products, and review SaaS based services to assess/address risk.

  • Defines security requirements and review systems to determine if they have be designed to comply with established security standards and develops new standards as necessary.

  • Leads and facilitates security projects and tasks.

  • Assists the Network Engineer in the development of technical policies and procedures regarding LAN/WAN activities.

  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with end users, vendors, and managers.

  • Identifies and resolves hardware and software related security problems.

  • Performs penetration testing and vulnerability scanning (Nessus).

  • Uses Antivirus and antimalware.

  • Manages and monitors SIEM.

  • Performs network routing, switching, and firewalls.

  • Monitors email and web filtering.

  • Responsible for Data Loss Prevention.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least three (3) years of information Systems Security, Network Security, Firewalls, and IPS/IDS.

  • Excellent writing, documentation, and communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

  • Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and processes.

  • Familiarity with assessing risks and developing mitigating controls and alternatives.

  • Experience in computer security combined with risk analysis, audit, and compliance.

  • Ability to independently identify, assess, and document system security deficiencies and recommend solutions.

  • Experience in supporting network firewalls and proxy servers.

  • Familiar with administration of routers, firewalls, and switching technology.

  • Knowledge of TCP/IP and related data network protocols: knowledge of standard network protocols like TCP, ARP, ICMP, DHCP, HTTP, SNMP, etc. and advance features like IPSEC and IPv6 related protocols and accompanying protocol analysis tools.

  • Experience with design and configuration of a network DMZ.

  • Experience with converged network technologies.

  • Knowledge of security and risk frameworks including NIST, SANS, HITRUST.

  • Working knowledge of modern communications networks and protocols (MPLS, VPNs, etc.)

  • Understanding of and the ability to perform penetration testing.

  • Knowledge of network technologies to include wireless and mobile platforms.

  • Knowledge of compliance requirements including ITAR, DFARS, PCI, and SOX.

  • Must be highly motivated and able to work effectively under minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member.

  • Extensive understanding of Endpoint Security for PCs and Servers.

  • Experience with ITIL concepts.

  • Ability to perform risk assessments and testing of data processing systems.

  • Training staff on network and security processes and procedures.

  • Experience in setting up and supporting VPNs.

  • Experience in scripting languages such as PowerShell and Perl.

  • Certifications (i.e. CISSP, CEH, CCNA, CNNP, and ITIL) are highly desirable.

  • Certifications must be maintained throughout employment; candidates without certifications may be required to obtain them.

  • Recent graduates of security programs considered, if applicant has other relevant experience and demonstrates exceptional aptitude and initiatives.
