Great Southern Bank Application Support Specialist I in Springfield, Missouri

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Responsible for providing successful implementation and management of applications in the

test and production environment. Follows all applicable banking laws and regulations, including

BSA and AML, and ensuring compliance within area of responsibility. Provides ongoing support

and maintenance of systems and regularly updates the Application Support Supervisor

regarding the status of ongoing projects and issues affecting his/her area of responsibility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provides support for internal software programs and is knowledgeable of software

updates and enhancements. Serves as the liaison between application developers and end

users by tracking and following up with incident requests, software bugs, and enhancement

requests. This duty is performed daily, about 30% of the time.

  1. Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and

communication with all levels of internal customers within the organization. Manages the

program design/modification process to keep peers and managers informed of trends,

significant problems, and unexpected delays with assigned projects. This duty is performed

daily, about 20% of the time.

  1. Works closely with Network Administration staff to evaluate and document the

interrelationship of proposed applications or program enhancements with other

systems/applications. This duty is performed daily, about 15% of the time.

  1. Receives, records, and prioritizes issues reported by end users; escalates via the

appropriate channels when necessary. Ensures issues are fully documented in the Help Desk

ticketing system application. This duty is performed daily, about 15% of the time.

  1. Ensures assigned projects meet deadlines and provides regular project update reports to

the Application Support Supervisor and/or the Implementation and Support Manager. This duty

is performed as needed, about 10% of the time.

  1. Assists with the installation, support and maintenance of in-house computers systems,

desk tops, laptops, mobile devices and peripherals. This duty is performed as needed, about

10% of the time.

  1. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty

mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge,

skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Broad knowledge of such fields as advanced accounting, marketing, business administration,

finance, etc. Equivalent to four years of college, plus 12 to 18 months related experience and/or

training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and

maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; Ability to write routine reports and

correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers. Ability to perform these mathematical skills

using money and other forms of measurement.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Ability to use common sense understanding in order to carry out detailed written or oral

instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few known variables in situations of a

routine nature.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

A valid motor vehicle license and/or the ability to travel to all user locations on a regular basis is

mandatory.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer certification.

SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED

Intermediate: Alphanumeric Data Entry, Database, Other, Spreadsheet, Word

Processing/Typing
