KPMG is currently seeking a Senior Associate, Database Administrator to join our Digital Nexus technology organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support of database environments/applications, including software installation, database creation, upgrades, patches, problem diagnosis, performance monitoring, database maintenance, process automation, evaluation and tuning recommendations; develop, implement and support backup/restore, disaster recovery and data replication procedures and exercises

  • Participate in all aspects of the lifecycle for database environments and in the implementation of application requested database code and configuration changes in supported database environments

  • Contribute in the creation of new policies, procedures, projects and processes

  • Evaluate, document and recommend database-related software products within technical architecture framework

  • Interact with various technology teams regarding work requests submitted, participate in the creation of new policies, procedures, projects, processes and participate in all aspects of the lifecycle for database environments

  • Provide technical guidance for junior members of the team and create periodic status reports for management; ability to provide on call 24x7 emergency off-hours support of critical systems for database problem resolution and recovery as well as production applications

Qualifications:

  • Minimum three years of recent experience supporting Oracle and open source production databases; Hands-on senior database administration experience with Oracle 12c, Hadoop big data system, ElasticSearch, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Netezza and MySQL, including strong proficiency with Unix and Linux environments

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience

  • Demonstrated experience supporting Oracle and open source production databases; hands-on senior database administration experience with Oracle 12c, Hadoop big data system, ElasticSearch, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Netezza and MySQL, including strong proficiency with Unix and Linux environments

  • Excellent in problem diagnosis, troubleshooting, performance monitoring and tuning and in managing Oracle RAC, Oracle Dataguard and database restore and recovery; proficient in Oracle ASM, RMAN, AWR, ADDM and shell scripting; strong knowledge of OEM management and administration; proficiency in Hadoop, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, ElasticSearch and Netezza administration; experience with OrientDB is a plus

  • Ability to learn new software and technologies rapidly and to be proactive and be able to manage own projects efficiently for on-time delivery

  • Strong verbal/written communication, problem solving, analytical and independent judgment skills to support an environment driven by customer service and team-work; ability to positively influence, mentor and be a credible source of knowledge to less experienced team members and work collaboratively with team members from other technical and support departments such as system administration, network support, technical support, operations and QA

  • US Citizenship required
