Kforce Network Operations Engineer in Saint Louis, Missouri

Kforce has a client seeking a Network Operations Engineer in Saint Louis, MO. Responsibilities:

  • Provides Tier 3 support of the Wide Area Network (WAN) for Global Communications and Information Security. Supports and monitors the WAN and other associated systems

  • Works under general supervision of Network Operations management both independently and with other members of the Network Operations team to respond to Service Requests, Problems, Incidents and Change Requests

  • This is a highly technical role in which the individual chosen will be expected to independently deliver positive outcomes and resolutions

  • Provide proactive recognition and correction of network related problems

  • Provide telephone-based support to business unit customers toward the resolution of incidents

  • Provide support to customers and staff during new WAN or datacenter installations

  • Will work directly with Monitoring & Triage team to coordinate repair and restoral efforts of service providers, including monitoring services, telecommunication providers, and third-party ISPs

  • Associates degree in CS, MIS, or related technology/engineering discipline preferred or equivalent experience required

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification or equivalent experience required

  • Cisco CCNA, CCNP (preferred) or equivalent work experience

  • 4 or more years working with Cisco routing and switching devices

  • Detailed understanding of the function and configuration of Cisco networking equipment

  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot Cisco routers in an enterprise WAN environment

  • Extensive experience administering and configuring layer 2 and layer 3 Cisco networks

  • Strong working knowledge of VLANs, spanning tree, BGP, and EIGRP

  • Operational experience working with service providers to troubleshoot and remediate circuit issues

  • Operational knowledge of Wireless LAN access points, connectors, and survey tools

  • Experience with network monitoring and compliance tools

  • Ability to analyze data and deliver metrics associated with utilization, capacity and functional operation of the network

  • Ability to comprehend and create complex network maps and drawings in standard design tools (i.e. Visio)

  • Functional understanding of DNS, DHCP, and related network services

  • Understanding of IP addressing including subnetting and supernetting

  • Operational understanding of different media and cable types

  • Experience working from a ticketing system
