Job Description:

Cerner’s Population Health team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to participate in engineering efforts on the HealtheIntent platform with the ultimate goal of improving the overall health of patients around the world! In this role, you’ll work with a team in all phases of the software development and support life-cycles. Your experience will enable you to participate in the estimation of effort, create technical designs of smaller scope, provide high level architectural guidance, and develop using best practices that result in highly reliable, performant, and maintainable solutions and platform components.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent relevant work experience

  • At least 3 years of software engineering work experience

  • Experience working with relational databases, Java, Ruby, and Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Kafka, MapReduce, Storm, Spark.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing, developing, operating, and maintaining Big Data processing solutions utilizing PaaS (Platform as a Service) providers such as Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.


  • Must be residing in or willing to relocate to the Kansas City metro area

  • Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed and allowed by local regulations

  • Work in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures, understand personal role in safeguarding corporate and client assets, and take appropriate action to prevent and report any compromises of security within scope of position
