Cerner’s Population Health team is seeking an Associate Principal Engineer to drive innovation on the HealtheIntent platform with the ultimate goal of improving the overall health of patients around the world. In this role, you will be responsible for understanding the requirements of strategy and solution teams, driving the analysis of various technologies to meet these requirements, and making architectural decisions that help to deliver a highly reliable, performant, supportable, and maintainable platform and solutions. A deep understanding and experience in Big Data and microservices methodologies will be a focus in this role.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent relevant work experience

  • At least 7 years of software engineering work experience

  • Experience working with relational databases, Java, Ruby, and Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Kafka, MapReduce, Storm, Spark

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing, developing, operating, and maintaining Big Data processing solutions utilizing PaaS (Platform as a Service) providers such as Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent relevant work experience

Expectations

  • Must be residing in or willing to relocate to the Kansas City metro area

  • Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed and allowed by local regulations

  • Work in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures, understand personal role in safeguarding corporate and client assets, and take appropriate action to prevent and report any compromises of security within scope of position
