GEHA Manager, Middleware and Integrations in Lee’s Summit, Missouri

The Manager, Middleware and Integrations reports to the Vice President, Digital Enablement. The role has responsibility to lead the Middleware and Integrations team which is focused on providing middleware and integration services, delivering high value to internal and external partners through a variety of leading technologies and practice disciplines helping the organization transition to a new these new services.

The Manager, Middleware and Integrations will lead the design, development, testing and implementation of GEHA’s middleware solution(s) and API solution(s) with a strong emphasis on teamwork, customer commitment, industry best practices, and continuous improvement. While leading the development of the Middleware and API platform(s), the Manager, Middleware and Integrations will also lead a team to continue to develop, coordinate, implement, and communicate the organization’s needs and initiatives for legacy data transformation and delivery systems. This individual is responsible for ensuring that current data transformation and delivery production methods and procedures are maintained and properly executed, including development, change requests, and enterprise project(s) integrations.

The Manager, Middleware and Integration shall possess strong middleware, API, data analytical practices and various technical skills to work with partners and stakeholder to design, develop, test and implement integration solutions for GEHA and its business partners. They must have strong project execution capabilities, possess strong technical leadership, strong management skills and collaboration capabilities, excellent communication skills, be focused on continuous improvement and integration innovation, and have a strong attention to detail while delivering high quality work.

SKILLS

  • Working with the current team, lead and/or participate in design and review of new applications and integration strategies for current data transformation and delivery systems and associated input/output.

  • Coordinate with network engineering, business application, and database administration function to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of current transformation and delivery systems to meet business demands.

  • Lead transitions of current systems and processes to next-generation environments, platforms and/or cross-functional business systems.

  • Provide direct management of issue resolution or lead analysis and troubleshooting efforts to resolve hardware, software and/or processing problems.

  • Work with team(s) to define, develop and perform system backups and recovery procedures.

  • Monitor and test system(s) performance and provide performance statistics and reports of current and future-state data transformation and delivery solutions.

  • Apply industry experience and best practices to design, develop, and implement middleware and integration solutions to support complex business requirements.

  • Apply knowledge and expertise of current and emerging Middleware/Integration technologies to develop and deliver quality Enterprise solutions in both Information Technology (IT) and Business Technology (BT) domains to meet client objectives.

  • Serve as Integration / Middleware Design and Development expert on projects executed for GEHA’s growing healthcare and health insurance lines of business and related partner integrations.

  • Meet and work with business analysts, business partners, application analysts and IT stakeholders to translate business requirements into enterprise integration solutions and services.

  • Lead and assist with preparation of enterprise integration solution documentation including but not limited to; development of functional and technical specifications, technical approach, testing specifications and implementing technical solutions into an execution environment.

  • Assist in development of GEHA’s Middleware and API business and technical committees and professional organizations to promote and expand GEHA’s middleware capabilities, experience and solutions providing thought leadership.

  • Manage, mentor and provide technical guidance and leadership to Middleware and Integrations team members.

  • Review other solution designers, solution architects and developer’s documentation for standards and best practice principles.

  • Use Middleware experience and knowledge to provide input and influence project execution processes and quality assurance/quality control protocols.

  • Responsible for participating in and leading other middleware team members.

  • Work includes influencing other department management on issues where guidelines or general understanding of company positioning already exists (e.g., negotiating with vendors, standard contact with outside professionals or dealing with regulatory agencies on routine matters).

  • May negotiate with vendors on contracts terms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Computer Science, Information Technology or closely related field is preferred; Additional work experience may be substituted for degree.

  • Five to seven years (or more) of relevant experience in IT and business/industry or healthcare product development and delivery in the digital space. Prior experience working in the healthcare space is preferred, but not required.

  • Requires three - five years of managerial experience along with diverse roles and increasing responsibilities across business and IT, with demonstrable skill to communicate effectively with delivery teams.

  • Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education.

  • Demonstrable experience of engaging executives and other stakeholders to support important business decisions.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with providing Middleware / Integration solutions and services leveraging various technical platforms, including data transformation and delivery solutions.

  • Specific knowledge of SQL, ESB solutions, data transformation and data accessibility/delivery platform(s) required.

  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining EDI systems and ETL standards and processes.

  • Knowledge of EDI standard formats (ANSI X12, EDIFACT, etc.), EDI translators and FHIR / HL7 standards.

  • Working technical knowledge of coding in middle tier platforms with experience in structured and unstructured data.

  • Excellent Enterprise Integration skills, including data analytics, cloud, middleware and other architectural methods.

  • Have experience with medium to large middleware technology projects using industry leading middleware and API technologies such as MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, Apigee, Azure, etc..

  • Strong ability to design, develop, test and implement Enterprise Integration Project solutions.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience with Data Analysis and transformation at various layers of the architecture and possess the ability to present data transformation during various stages of the architecture.

  • Experiencing with leading application development teams with leading edge middleware technology and solutions.

  • Experiencing with a variety of project execution methodologies including but not limed to Waterfall and Agile.

  • Experience developing data architecture strategies for clients in a variety of industries

  • Demonstrable knowledge of the product management discipline, through relevant work experience and/or formal training/education

  • Requires strong analytic and problem solving capabilities and the ability to identify solutions and recommendations that effectively address business and control needs along with how to train and guide others in this area.

  • Requires the ability to multi-task effectively, responding to changing business priorities and deadlines.

  • Requires the ability to work collaboratively with team members across multiple divisions and departments.
