WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
A Technical Editor to join our Package Design group in Hallmark Greetings.
WHO WE ARE:
The Package Design – Greetings group at Hallmark Cards creates over 4,000 packaging solutions every year for formats across gift wrap, stationery, boxed cards, and stickers. The department is responsible for communicating product features and benefits, influencing merchandising sets and displays, acting as key consumer communication channel, and delivering a consistent brand experience that’s uniquely Hallmark.
This Technical Editor position supports the Hallmark Packaging team responsible for creating packaging for retail, mass, and club channels. Responsibilities include:
Developing the technical editorial content of product packaging in a manner that enables the graphic & production designers to create multilingual packaging artwork
Serving as Center of Excellence for determining required technical and legal copy before procuring translations for distribution in the US and Canada
Analyzing, researching and applying technical editorial elements to assigned product and packaging, ensuring compliance with all relevant legal, safety and environmental requirements. Includes providing proper copyrights, quantity statements, and warnings
Combining technical editorial with creative sell copy and creating online packaging editorial documents for creative execution
Assuring that packaging editorial is accurate, consistent, and released on schedule
Learning and navigating internal content server computer systems with accuracy and efficiencies.
A proofreading test will be required.
- Testing for external candidates will be conducted if selected for an onsite interview.

The following is required to be considered for this role:
Associate’s degree or 2+ years of professional work experience
2+ years of experience in editing, copy editing, or proofreading
Must be able to pass a proofreading test (only passing scores will be considered)
Your resume and portfolio will stand out if you have:
Bachelor's or Associate's Degree
Outstanding command of English language, both written and verbal, including proficiency in grammar, spelling and punctuation
High degree of accuracy and confidence in identifying and correcting grammar, spelling, punctuation and style errors
Ability to master a high degree of new technical knowledge and style guidelines
Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
French language proficiency
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to partner effectively with employees at various levels in editorial, design, product development and graphics, as well as outside clients
Comfort with ambiguity and ability to work under pressure to meet production schedules, while maintaining close attention to detail and high quality standards
Self-starter with excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
Flexibility to work overtime, as necessary, to accommodate Hallmark Packaging workloads and schedules
Ability to work across disciplines (acct, creative, traffic, and partner teams) honing and crafting the Hallmark brand voice on packaging
Be a utility player wearing multiple hats switching from a tech editor skill set to a creative writer skill set flawlessly
