What You'll Do:
The Solution Architect is accountable for and coordinates the design effort for major projects that cross application and infrastructure domains.
Work directly with business teams during project envisioning, to come up with the best solution for given requirements, with the ability to provide reasonably accurate estimates for projects
Translate requirements into a solution vision, high-level business and/or IT system specifications, and a portfolio of implementation tasks.
Ensure solutions are of high quality, high performance and scalable
Accountable for the Technical Design Document of assigned projects. Develop the overall conceptual design working with the impacted Application and Infrastructure teams. Ensure that the solution and design fits within the enterprise context and meets standards
Ensure turnover of design to build teams
Monitor build and implementation phase of projects to ensure continued alignment with design
Develop and comply with common standards aligned with SDLC and other Governance processes
Translates nonfunctional and functional requirements into design, within enterprise context
Determine infrastructure and application solution costs and cost alternatives according to company financial targets.
Identify performance improvement opportunities for Solution Realization (service transformation)
Maintain a current knowledge of the technology industry and determining the impact of hardware and/or software upgrades on new and existing applications
Develop visual EA models that support leadership understanding and governance of technology principles and roadmaps
Provide expertise in infrastructure hardware and software evaluation, selection and implementation
Develop and manage key internal/external client relationships across sphere of influence, including situations in which no relationship previously existed.
Participate in cross-area/function business challenges and co-ordinates at a senior level the work of own group/function with that of other areas.
Review current operations for continuous process improvement, e.g. better ways to implement solutions for alignment with strategy, better ways to monitor solution and prevent incidents
Build common design patterns to enable agile implementation of business solutions with technology
Support SOA enablement and acceleration
Ensure population of Configuration Management Database (CMDB) for assigned projects

In this Role, You will Need:
Demonstrated ability and understanding of banking or financial services business areas
Proven experience with coordinating and liaising across technology and business functions
Strong presentation and communication skills
Expert knowledge of web-based systems architecture, service-based architecture, enterprise application architecture as well as experience managing expectations when balancing alternatives against business and financial constraints
Must demonstrate good judgment and pragmatic approach to delivering a solution that optimizes architecture activities across company needs, business constraints and technological realities
Should have participated in, and be familiar with, SDLC and Agile (Scrum) project methodologies
Must maintain professional knowledge and relationships with the UMB ecosystem
Proven credibility with solutions teams, business owners, and management
Experience with Conceptualization, patterns, modeling, design, communications
Experience in problem solving, and able to follow a methodical implementation process
Demonstrates experience developing solution architecture
Leadership experience throughout the software development lifecycle.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to handle diverse situations, multiple projects and rapidly changing priorities
Ability to communicate with business users at all levels
Experience with large-scale applications in a leadership role
Proven effective teaming and inter-personal skills
The ability to work on multiple projects/tasks at once and operate in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment and possess organization skills to balance and prioritize work
Proficiency with MS Office product (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project)
Utilize modern industry patterns within solution designs.
Document pattern for reuse across the enterprise.
Mentor development and infrastructure teams on new technologies and patterns used in a solution.
Maintain domain portfolio level diagrams
Participate in the creation and maintenance of technology Roadmaps.
Stay current with modern technology, patterns and trends.
Experience in the following is preferred:
Microservice patterns and design
Cloud native platforms and services
Container management platforms
Event driven architecture

Bachelors of Science degree in either Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or equivalent
