As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by: Planning and developing projects concerned with unique or controversial problems, which have an important effect on major CDM Smith programs Planning, developing, and directing a number of large projects Generally requiring few subordinate supervisors and a large number of staff Conducting research in problem areas of considerable scope and complexity Applying advanced concepts and principles in a subject area, type of facility, or site conditions Keeping abreast of developments affecting CDM Smith in order to recommend changes to current programs or new programs Managing large projects or large phases of projects Taking full project management responsibilities (depending on career path) Taking increasing budget, cost control, and technical responsibility Interacting with clients on a daily basis Exploring subject area, defining scope selects problems for investigation, and developing novel concepts and approaches requiring progressive experience Establishing and defining project objectives Assuming responsibility for new business development activities within area of expertise Coordinating collection of project data Performing necessary project research Devising new approaches to problems encountered and coordinating various technical aspects of work Initiating and performing assigned project administration duties (preparing and monitoring budget and schedule, preparing correspondence, and participating in general office duties) Effectuating CDM Smith's business goals at the business development, project management, and staff utilization levels Serving as a mentor for lower-level employees and acting as a recognized leader of technical and professional staff

Minimum Qualifications:

-Bachelors degree in arts, planning, engineering, or a science.

-AICP Certification or approved Certification in a related field. Or Masters Degree in planning, engineering, science, or environmental science/management.

-10 year of related experience with Bachelors degree or 11 years of experience with Masters degree.

-Current PM certification (either PMP; CCM and DBIA) or ability to receive within 12 months of start.

-Previous experience managing transportation planning projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

Work requires use of computers for extended periods, resulting in prolonged use of computer keyboard and exposure to computer monitors. Work also involves occasional field-work on a variety of sites and under a wide range of environmental conditions.
