Lead Infrastructure Engineer**
Develop an Enterprise approach to system specification, engineering, operational, administrative, capacity management, maintenance and support services for the H&R Block information technology infrastructure. Support and engage in activities in the areas of technical escalation, internal resource application, operational logistics, incident and problem resolution services resulting in deployments with optimal Mean Time to Restore (MTTR) and Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) characteristics. Diagnose and investigate unique and complex systemic problems and application service failures. Design and automate operational tasks and create automated tests to validate solutions and environments. Drive service performance analysis and tuning, service capacity planning and demand forecasting. Customize prevalent management tools for troubleshooting and reporting. Perform systems administration activities to ensure the smooth operation of applications across multiple platforms. Guide and mentor lower level staff.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field.
Eight years of experience to include:
Infrastructure components of an IT infrastructure - server systems, storage technology, network technology, information security and application tools;
Administration and troubleshooting in Linux/Unix operating system, and Red Hat Linux. (RHEL v4-5-6) with file system(ext2-3-4, XFS, JFS, ResierFS, VxFS, UFS, QFS or ZFS) patch management and cluster management;
Assembling, troubleshooting and configuring high end physical servers from vendors - HP and CISCO;
Troubleshooting and managing VMware infrastructure;
Installing, fine tuning and troubleshooting cluster environments;
Automate tasks using scripts and other automation tools to design and automate operational tasks and create automated tests to validate solutions and environments using Satellite, bash, php and/or python languages;
Networking, packet tracing, packet latency, system & network throughput, Disk IO performance tuning, analyzing packet captures, operating system tuning;
Backup, restore, create backup and retention policies, tape backups, vmdk backups, disaster recovery, site-to-site backup using netbackup;
Drive service performance analysis and tuning, service capacity planning and demand forecasting;
Managing patch and subscriptions using Redhat Satellite server; and
Storage technologies NAS & SAN.
RHEL7 and Solaris Certified.
