The AWS Cloud Systems Engineer role is part of an integrated team of cloud infrastructure, engineers and operations specialists working within a cloud center of excellence ecosystem. The team serves as the focal point for decisions and actions involving cloud virtual infrastructure and its operations. It includes a set of cross-domain roles aimed at creating a tighter collaboration across the traditional plan-build-run IT paradigm achieving agility and the operationally-driven decisions needed to support proactive management of a cloud landscape with an Infrastructure as Code (IaC) mindset.

The AWS Cloud Systems Engineer is also responsible for all technical duties associated with cloud computing; including design, planning, management, maintenance and support. This role is responsible for cloud operations, orchestration and collaboration with internal IT partners, business partners, external technology and resource providers ensuring effective and efficient cloud governance processes and procedures are in place and executed.

The following is required to be considered for this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technology or 4 years of equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in one of the following disciplines: application development, application support, OR infrastructure support.


Your resume will stand out if you have:

  • Worked with a team of technology engineers in a 24x7 cloud or hybrid cloud environment

  • Managed and monitored systems hosted by public cloud providers and technologies (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science

  • Masters or MBA Degree

  • Cloud certified (AWS Certified, Azure Certified, etc)

  • Previous management experience in a related technology field (e.g. application development, application support, technology and/or infrastructure support).

  • 4+ years public cloud experience

  • 3+ years’ experience with IaaS design, automation, and micro-service systems architecture.

  • 3+ years’ experience with capacity planning, utilization review, and monitoring of availability and performance.

  • Experience with enterprise IT infrastructure or operations

  • Experience with cloud security best practices.

  • Experience with automation languages such as Python and Cloud formation.

  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.

  • Experience with continuous integration tools such as Jenkins, Rundeck, Ant, or Maven.
