We currently have an opening for an Art Director located in Kansas City. Help shape the look-and-feel with this ground floor opportunity to take a local, consumer-facing challenger brand nationwide. You’ll impact every touch point from social, email, .com, print, swag, content and digital campaigns. nbkc needs a passionate, progressive and conceptual designer that can conceive creative concepts, articulate them and then roll up the sleeves to bring them to life.

You’ll interface directly with the C-suite to understand business objectives and translate strategic insights into original concepts, working with copywriters, printers, videographers and other outside partners you will source as needed. If you love the thought of helping define the social and digital presence for a national brand and have a book of design-forward work, mad typography skills and big ideas you’ve brought to life, we want to hear from you.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with marketing team and internal stakeholders to understand business objectives and design effective marketing material from concept stage through execution and production: digital media assets, social content and campaigns across many channels (paid and earned), web, email, print, collateral, swag, internal communications

  • Collaborate with writers, outside agencies and internal team members in planning and development; must work well with others and communicate regularly on project status and deliverables.

  • Organize and maintain creative assets, including logos, image library, working files and more

  • Coordinate print production with print purchasing resources; source photographers, illustrators, videographers as needed

  • Stay up on design and industry trends, bringing new sources of creative inspiration to the team

  • Follows all applicable laws and regulations.

  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.


Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or Visual Arts AND 4+ years of digital design experience. Must have a portfolio demonstrating strong conceptual skills, refined aesthetic sensibility, current design and typography trends.

Additional qualifications include:

  • Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Keynote, Powerpoint

  • Take-charge personality, autonomous and self-directed

  • Familiar with key social media channels (facebook, Instagram, pinterest, snap, youtube, Pandora etc)

  • Ability to prioritize and produce a high level of output in an entrepreneurial, fast-moving environment

  • Experience designing across mobile, tablet, desktop

  • Must have excellent verbal and written business communication skills

  • Must have solid computer skills

Photography and/or video experience, knowledge of web animation, HTML, or other programming skills and a love of pop culture and #trending topics are a plus.
