SSM Health Senior Business Intelligence Engineer in Jefferson City, Missouri

  • Engages with the system data and analytics (SDA) project team to understand the needs and recommends business intelligence solutions.

  • Partners with SDA project team to define the data elements and data structure that the team should leverage to enable analytical capabilities. Writes complex and highly-optimized SQL queries across large datasets.

  • Moves data between internal and external sources using Application Programming Interface (APIs), Extract, Transfer, Load (ETL).

  • Merges business intelligence (BI) platforms with enterprise systems and applications. Enhances the performance of business intelligence tools by defining data to filter and index.

  • Trains users to transform data into action-oriented information and to use that information. Standardizes data and report consumption across all customer groups.

  • Provides input on team strategy and vision. Works with cross-functional teams to design and develop business intelligence (BI) solutions independently, with minimal direction.

  • Creates buy-in for the business intelligence approach, both internally and with key external partners.

  • Supports and helps manage external resources, such as service providers and vendor support.

  • Participates in strategic and tactical planning discussions. Provides guidance and training to less experienced staff.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree


  • Six years’ experience


  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.

  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.

  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.

  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.

  • Rare climbing.
