CTG is seeking to fill a Mainframe Storage Administrator opening for our Fortune 100 client. As Mainframe Storage Administrator, you are responsible in providing technical support in order to ensure a high degree of Customer Happiness through Service Level Agreement (SLA) & process compliance. You will perform business impact analysis and risk assessments to reduce the likelihood of significant service outage or disasters.

Project Location: Remote from the United States,

Project Duration: 6+ months

Project Hours: 35 hours per week, 7 hours per day 5 days per week

Duties:

  • Responsible for the Management of Storage and related devices within a mainframe complex

  • Initialize/Add new DASD volumes and Add new tape volumes. Perform the space management activities such as VTOC resizing, Defrag, Compress/Reclaim/Release/Cleaning of datasets

  • Manage and define SMS rules and ACS routines

  • Perform storage management services, including design, implementation and customization of products and technology in a mainframe environment, in a Project Services business model; Project Services can be time-bound projects delivered to existing managed services clients or standalone services delivered to clients. Project services typically involve heavy interaction with the client in support of concluding the project to meet the clients requirements.

  • Execute Disaster Recovery tests

  • Provide 24x7 coverage

Required Expertise:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in systems programming of Mainframe Storage

  • Working knowledge of Z/OS Operating System, z/OS(MVS) fundamentals, Storage fundamentals and Storage dataset (RMM/HSM CDS & Catalog file) reorganization

  • Experience in Data/Volume level backup and restores.

  • Validated expertise on TSO, ISPF, JCL, VSAM, ISMF, JES2, Catalogs, Datasets (PS/PDS/PDSE/GDG), REXX, SAS, SDSF and Spool

  • Demonstrated experience of disaster recovery planning and performing the recovery test (Tape recovery / DASD Replication / Tape Replication) and Managing the Copy services / GDPS

  • Proven expertise in Storage box Configuration (DASD & Tape) and Storage box data migration (DASD to DASD and Tape to tape) with Storage replication

  • Good knowledge on the following (: MF - Tape & DASD Management) areas: DFSMS, DFSMSHSM, DFSMSDSS, DFSMSDFP, DFSMSRMM, ICF Catalog, VSAM, IDCAMs, CA products (CA Disk, CA allocate and CA-1), FDR products, Omegamon XE or related Storage monitoring tools, ICKDSF, Space abends and SMF/Dcollect/BVIR reports.

  • Recognize complex problems related to functional objectives. Analyze situations and implement solutions, or develop new system elements, procedures or processes. Creativity and judgment applied to developmental work on different projects within the business environment.

  • Support Customer work hours – US (weekends and holidays as on call staff)

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group is required.

Preferred Expertise:

  • Experience in Creating Change Requests, Resolve Service Requests, and Provide 24x7 On call support

  • Expertise in hardware storage subsystems including IBM DASD (DS8K), IBM Automated tape library and IBM Virtual tape library (TS7700/TS7720/TS7740/TS7760)

  • Experience in EMC’s storage (VMAX and DLM) and Replication (SRDF) technologies

  • You love collaborative environments that use agile methodologies to encourage creative design thinking and find innovative ways to develop with cutting edge technologies

  • Ambitious individual who can work under their own direction towards agreed targets/goals and with creative approach to work

  • Intuitive individual with an ability to manage change and proven time management

  • Proven interpersonal skills while contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

  • Up-to-date technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publication
