The Boeing Company Senior System of Systems Design & Architecture Engineer in Hazelwood, Missouri
The Boeing Company is seeking a Senior Electrical and Systems Engineer with experience in electronic systems design and analysis for the MQ-25 program. The selected candidate will be the technical point of contact to provide air vehicle systems design and architecture leadership.
Boeing is bringing the future of unmanned aircraft carrier aviation to the U.S. Navy with its MQ-25. An unmanned aircraft system designed for the U.S. Navy mission, it will provide the needed robust refueling capability thereby extending the combat range of deployed Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet, Boeing EA-18G Growler, and Lockheed Martin F-35C fighters.
Lead air vehicle system architecture design.
Develop, decompose, document, and maintain complex air vehicle system requirements according to customer desires and contract requirements.
Analyze, translate, and implement air vehicle system requirements into system architecture and interface definition, showing traceability throughout the product life-cycle.
Provide technical guidance on design decisions affecting multiple air vehicle systems.
Maintain working-level customer relationships on the effort.
Coordinate and engage with subject matter experts, other program Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), and critical suppliers as appropriate.
Develop statement-of-work and critical technical performance specifications.
Create analysis plans and status progress to plan.
Resolve product integration issues and production anomalies.
Solve problems concerning both hardware and software over the entire product life-cycle.
Understand and apply job practices, techniques, standards, principles, theories, and concepts.
Conducts program independent reviews and reports results to program leadership.
Mentor experienced engineers.
Basic Qualifications (required skills/experience):
Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or related technical field is required.
Fourteen (14) or more years of related work experience is required; Twelve (12) years of experience with a MS degree.
Nine (9) or more years of experience in avionics integration and/or electronics systems and/or RF systems is required.
Ability to obtain Secret US Security clearance (Post-Start).
Desired Qualifications (preferred skills/experience):
Nine (9) or more years of aerospace industry experience is desired.
Experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering is desired.
Experience with air vehicle subsystem design and integration is desired (Examples of air vehicle subsystems include: electrical, hydraulic, fuel, mission systems).
Experience with unmanned aerial systems is desired.
Previous design team or special project team leadership is desired.
Ability to direct the development, maintenance, and modification of electronic/electrical system designs based on requirements is desired.
Knowledge of data system design and architectures is desired.
Experience with failure mode analysis, off-nominal performance, or Contingency Management is a plus.
Knowledge of system security design principles and industry and government guidance and regulations which engineers apply to produce secure systems is a plus.
Experience with DOORS (Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System) is a plus.
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
