MicroTechnologies VMware vSphere Systems Administrator (VMware Certified Professional ) in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri

MicroTech is seeking a personable, highly motivated VMWare Certified Professional in version 5.5 or higher with a wide breadth of IT knowledge and DoD specific work experience to perform technical and administrative support, security, maintenance, and stability of the client’s server and VMWare environments. The environment is comprised of servers running VMware ESXi, Windows and Linux hosts. Candidate must have enterprise level experience in VMWare and is expected to possess good social, interpersonal, written and verbal skills to effectively interact with the PM, fellow team members, and the client to pro-actively troubleshoot, diagnose, and re-mediate server, VMWare, application, security, and Active Directory related issues. The successful candidate must be a team-player, able to work with a diverse group of technical/professional staff members in a dynamic environment; but who can also work independently with minimal supervision to meet client deadlines and expectations

  • Perform regular server, VMWare and software maintenance applying DISA's Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG), IAVAs, SRRS, anti-virus updates, VMWare updates, Windows Updates and other required security controls

  • Perform task management associated with the day to day operations, security, configuration, and sustainment of the client’s physical and virtual infrastructure.

  • Perform planning and have the ability to lead VMware migrations

  • Perform optimization of VMware for utilization of SAN storage and be able to implement multiple types of storage to be used with VMWare and server environment

  • Ability to perform migration of large numbers of virtual servers to new SAN arrays / storage without impacting users

  • Perform monitoring of VMWare environment using VCenter Operations Manager

  • Perform daily vSphere backup operations to ensure that all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks created and media is recycled and sent off-site as necessary

  • Assist with evaluating new technologies and making recommendations for upgrading or replacing existing solutions to keep up with technology trends and industry best practices

  • Maintain an accurate network topology (physical and logical topology drawings) along with detailed equipment and software inventories

  • Ensure data is backed up; regularly test and validate recovery capabilities to ensure disaster recovery is maintained

  • Assist in the development, preparation and maintenance of SOPs and documentation as it pertains to the server and VMWare environment

  • Assist the team in maintaining compliance with applicable DoD Cybersecurity regulations to include but not limited to Cybersecurity Assessment Visits (CAV) and the Command Cybersecurity Readiness Inspection (CCRI) program audits

  • Assist with maintaining the agency’s Approval to Operate (ATO) based on Risk Management Framework (RMF) guidelines

  • Must be able to pass a background investigation

  • Must be VMware Certified VCP 5.5 (or higher) and provide valid proof of certification

  • CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent needed to meet DoD 8570 requirements

  • Solid background in IT systems management/administration/engineering

  • Must have good problem solving and critical reasoning skills

  • Good interpersonal communications, both oral and written
