Eaton Corporation Product Owner in Ellisville, Missouri

Eaton’s Bussmann Division is currently seeking a Product Owner to join our team. This position is based at our Ellisville, MO location or Moon Township, PA location. For candidates not within a commutable distance, a remote home office will be considered.

We are seeking a Product Owner with a background in front end interface development and an eye for design to join a team that’s challenged with changing the way our customers safely interact with and understand their electrical infrastructure. Our goals are to increase safety, minimize power problems, create context for users when problems do occur, and help them save energy. The position will require occasional travel to customer sites to develop and test ideas and prototypes. You will be responsible for the front-end development of web-based applications that interface with electronic devices for electrical safety, configuration, monitoring and power management. Further responsibility for development of cloud-based applications focused on Big Data and Data Analytics. This position will work on a global team using the latest HMTL/Javascript technologies.

In this function you will:

  • Provide technical leadership to front end design team and effectively communicate with back end developers and other project stakeholders

  • Define user stories, product requirements and manage the product backlog

  • Participate on Agile Scrum teams as the Product Owner

  • Lead the building of JavaScript software applications by following coding standards, creating unit tests, integration tests and deployment scripts

  • Quickly learn new technologies, libraries and tools including React.js

  • Translate designs and wireframes from the User Experience team into functional user interface, ensuring high levels of quality

  • Identify product opportunities through human-centered discovery and research methods, contribute to complex UX ecosystems, and inspire your product team to push the boundaries of what’s possible

  • Translate research and business plans into product concepts that lead to intuitive user experiences

  • Facilitate product development using personas, journey maps, research reports, sketches, wireframes, and prototypes

  • Execute across all project phases from early discovery and research through detailed visual design

  • Work closely with human-centered designers, engineers, and business professionals to guide products from inception through delivery

  • Work with customers and internal stake holders to understand the product space and design priorities.

  • Create and iterate on prototypes at various levels of fidelity.

  • Test prototypes with users.

  • Create interactions that are innovative and user focused.

  • Create visual designs that are as beautiful as they are functional.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of 4 years of front-end development experience required

  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Ellisville, MO or Moon Township, PA will be considered. A remote home office will also be considered if you don't reside near one of these sites. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MS in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science

  • 7+ years experience working as a designer on interactive projects

  • Exposure to working with a cross-functional team of business analysts, User Experience Designers, Software/Firmware/Hardware Developers, and Testers

  • Experience with Agile development processes

  • Knowledge of electrical safety and/or power systems desired

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services technologies desired

  • Experience and exposure to Design Thinking tools and methodologies

  • Experience with Figma (preferred), Sketch, or Adobe XD

Position Criteria:

  • Proficiency in Javascript, HTML5 and CSS required

  • Proficiency in C/C++/C# or other object-oriented programming concepts

  • Knowledge of React.js strongly desired

  • Knowledge of Node, Bower, and Grunt are desired

  • Knowledge of Internet protocols and experience in implementing protocols in applications desired

  • Experience in designing for usability

  • Experience in using defect tracking systems and code repository

  • Familiarity with web and mobile technologies and their impacts on the feasibility of design solutions

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong debug and code review skills

  • Strong data analytical skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to travel up to 25% internationally and domestically

  • Build strong relationships and operating rhythms with leaders inside and outside the core team.

Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The annual salary range for this role is $84,720-116,490 a year.
