YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Cloud Engineer, are to:
Build cloud-based infrastructure components to support the needs ofapplication development;
Develop tools/applications to increase efficiency, availability uptimeand overall robustness of applications/products;
Continue learning as the cloud environment evolves at a rapid pace and therefore skills need to be updated regularly to leverage new software provided by vendors;
Collaborate with teams of IT professionals to inform or support their cloud needs;
Troubleshoot and debug cloud-based infrastructure and applications;
Develop technical documents and handbooks to support application developers;
Provide training to application developers so they can most effectivelyand efficiently leverage the cloud infrastructure;
Ensure the security of the infrastructure is maintained and kept up todate to protect the company.

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field with six months practical experience;
Experience and understanding in solving challenging technical problems in the following areas: AWS Cloud Operations - running real workloads in the cloud and diagnosing and fixing problems;
Program using at least two of: Node.js, ES6, Scala, Python, or Java;
Variety of relational and non-relational data stores;
Work in a continuous delivery environment;
Create Representational State Transfer (RESTful) microservices;
Containerization technologies such as Cloud Foundry, Docker, or Kubernetes;
Familiarity with standard logging, monitoring, and alerting tools, such as Splunk;
Passion for building highly automated systems;
Good understanding of security best practices.
Knowledge of/experience with the following: AWS Lambda, AWS Cloud Formation (or Hashicorp Terraform), Jenkins, AWS Tagging, Hashicorp Vault;
Configuration management tools such as Ansible Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) design and implementation, including Virtual Private Network (VPN) strategies such as the transit VPC pattern;
Experience provisioning and maintaining highly-available, fault-tolerant IT infrastructure including servers, storage and data stores.
