Job Summary:

The Supply Chain Supervisor is responsible for supply chain and procurement activities at 3M's Columbia, MO site. Supervises, coaches, and directs supply chain and procurement analysts. Identifies, defines and implements improvements to supply chain processes in support of customer requirements and business objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for 3M Columbia service, inventory management, production planning/scheduling, capacity management, and procurement continuous improvement activities & results. Support and contribute to Extended Value Stream (EVS) improvement initiatives which have impacts beyond 3M Columbia.

  • Directly coach, supervise, train, and develop site supply chain and procurement teams, as well as supply chain support personnel as needed. Back-up/support direct reports as necessary.

  • Identify, define, and implement supply chain process improvements, including standard work, non-working inventory reduction, supplier management, and lead time accuracy/adherence. Reinforce the use of corporate parameter management tools (lead time, safety stock, batch size, MOQs, supermarket, etc). Incorporate Lean Six Sigma Principles and project management techniques.

  • Partner with product managers and plant management to optimize workcenter production scheduling while ensuring appropriate flexibility and responsiveness to changing business conditions.

  • Lead and participate in cross-functional projects which support site Supply Chain, Procurement, and Distribution Center readiness for Business Transformation/SAP Deployment.

  • Champion and implement Lean cycle time reduction projects/initiatives to improve speed and responsiveness

  • Ensure site supply chain participation in new product/new process commercialization process.

  • Represent the plant as appropriate on business unit, division or corporate teams – including S&OP/Integrated Business Planning teams.

  • Lead departmental meetings for the supply chain and procurement teams, monitor department operational expenses, and prioritize/allocate resources.

  • Ensure site supply chain and procurement compliance with required training; adhere to appropriate regulatory, financial, and audit standards and requirements.

  • Actively participate in relevant corporate programs/initiatives, comply with corporate policies and procedures, and act in a manner consistent with 3M’s values and ethical standards

Basic Qualifications:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of four (4) combined years of experience in supply chain, manufacturing, operations, and/or logistics in a private, public, government or military environment ​

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to influence others and work effectively in a team environment

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Supply Chain Management, Production Operations Management, or Engineering

  • Six Sigma Black Belt experience

  • Excellent written & oral communication skills; good presentation skills

  • Strong data mining, analytical, and decision-making skills

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment and/or distribution center

  • Experience leading Six Sigma Green Belt and/or other projects

  • Experience using SAP ERP Software, and/or leading projects for site ERP implementation

  • Experience using shop-floor execution and/or production planning software/applications

  • Experience/knowledge of 3M planning and order management systems.

  • APICS (The Association for Operations Management) CPIM or CSCP certification

  • Organizational and time management skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word

Location: Columbia, MO

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic

Relocation: Is authorized
