Responsibilities and Qualifications
The Department of Evaluation & Decision Science at Mercy Virtual is seeking a Manager – Enterprise Business Intelligence to work in collaboration with a team of business intelligence, evaluation, and data analytic professionals in support of Mercy Virtual’s health service programs and decision-making within the emerging virtual healthcare segment. The Manager – Enterprise Business Intelligence is responsible for managing and governing business data and overseeing the building and delivery of robust reporting platforms for the organization. This role will assist the Director of the Department of Evaluation & Decision Science in leading the strategy, design and development of enterprise-wide reports, self-service reporting tools, and visual analyses and dashboards. Through the build and maintenance of routine business intelligence assets, establishment of proper controls for business information processes, databases, and reports, and advisement on the proper use of BI tools, this position will help facilitate a standardized, semi-automated and robust reporting infrastructure for Mercy Virtual. This person is responsible for partnering with key business leaders to understand how the BI team can provide solutions that will improve their customers’ ability to manage and grow their lines of business. This position will also partner with the other senior members of the Department of Evaluation & Decision Science, Enterprise Analytic leaders, and IT leaders that are part of the IT Business Applications and IT Infrastructure teams. He/She will perform duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Assists the Director in developing the business intelligence strategy and implements the components of the roadmap for the organization.
Oversees and directs staff in managing the data and reporting needs of internal and external customers according to established processes.
Assists the Director in creating and implementing business information models that align with corporate strategies and the data and analytics roadmap.
Accountable for the establishment of best practices for data and report design, data derivations & rules used as part of the standard reporting platform, and SLAs for report delivery.
Demonstrates thorough understanding of overall data models, data relationships, mapping lineage and business rules.
Assists the Director in developing documentation standards and maintenance rules and policies for managing metadata and responsible for their enforcement.
Works with members of the Evaluation & Performance Improvement core of the Department to establish metrics to measure performance of the unit and to monitor performance against metrics on a regular basis.
Manages day-to-day work or serve as program manager or sponsor for significant projects/relationships with broad impact to business and enterprise performance.
Leads multiple or highly complex, strategic projects involving high level of coordination among multiple departments and business areas which utilize data to support new reporting capabilities and enhanced visual delivery.
Actively participates in the utilization of emerging technologies, techniques and solutions.
Assists Director in working with members of the Evaluation & Performance Improvement and Analytics cores of the Department to champion proactive data quality cleanup efforts with senior leadership and business customers to address the end to end inherent data quality issues.
Coordinates with business constituents in the automation of reporting and/or the development of self-service reporting solutions.
Assists Director in ensuring that decisions are made with full evaluation and balance of cost and benefits and communicated appropriately.
Assists Director in serving as a Data Analysis Escalation point for data gaps and/or findings.
Oversees and advisement for the development of wireframes or solution designs for business partners.
Manages and directs staff in the analysis of customer requirements impacted by gaps in production systems, determines impact to change existing systems/processes and develops appropriate specifications.
Facilitates customer requirements processes (and possibly sessions) for customer and vendor reporting solutions.
Oversees the testing and verification processes ensuring accurate results.
Serves as end-to-end business intelligence expert for significant projects with broad impact to business line or enterprise performance.
Oversees the development of documentation for end-to-end data flow and lineage from capture at source, to storage, to delivery and business output.
Works with all lines of business to assure new data needs are captured and controlled at the appropriate places within the data flow architecture to rapidly deploy value-add sources into existing reporting structures.
Manages resource capacity and business priority to ensure accurate and timely delivery of business intelligence assets.
Assists Director in working with Analytic and IT leadership toward the identification and validation of data sources and ensuring the integration of data across multiple systems and platforms is measured for quality.
Works with members of the Evaluation & Performance Improvement and Analytics cores to schedule and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet the changing needs of the business including process improvement, better data analysis and responding to ad-hoc needs as they arise.
Assists Director in providing thought-leadership on the development and execution of the reporting strategy while leveraging technology and data to enhance turnaround time, efficiency, and capabilities for report generation.
Assists Director in selecting, coaching, and growing high performing talent.
Supervises inventory and documentation of all reporting assets.
Maintains effective communication with customers, employees, and the management team.
Assists in performance measurement and other departmental activities as defined by the Director.
Perform duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with applicable laws concerning patient privacy.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications :
Education: BS or BA in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Economics, Statistics or related field
Experience: 7+ years experience in a management capacity with 3+ years experience overseeing staff
Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience applying the principles, theories, practices and techniques of relational database theory and data warehouse design
Experience developing automated reports and self-service tools
Past experience in a customer service role desired
Focused on meeting the expectations and requirements of both internal and external customers
Knowledge of healthcare data, systems and typical reporting metrics
Good self-motivation, initiative, and an ability to perform under pressure with little supervision
Strong PC/programming skills including Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, VBA, SQL, SSIS, SAS, Business Objects, Qlik, Tableau
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple work streams simultaneously
Ability to manage a team of solution architects, developers, and analysts (internal resources and partners)
Capable of effectively managing all partner and vendors relationships related to data exchange and BI tools
Experience with Agile development methodologies
Project Management/Process Improvement/Six Sigma knowledge preferred
A team player and servant ethos
Preferred Qualifications (required qualifications plus):
Education: MBA, or graduate degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Economics, Statistics or related field
Experience: Experience with EMRs (e.g., EPIC, Cerner, et cetera) and corresponding data storage technologies for data analytic purposes
Other Knowlegde, Skills and Abilitites:
Project Management/Process Improvement/Six Sigma knowledge
Understanding of and experience with Big Data tools (e.g., Hadoop, SAP Hana, NoSQL)
