Operates independently to provide quality work products to an engagement. Applies Oracle methodology, company procedures, and leading practices.

5-7 years of experience relevant to this position including 2 years consulting experience preferred. Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience. Product or technical expertise relevant to practice focus. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to build rapport with team members and clients. Ability to travel as needed.

Summary of Position:

The Principal Design Consultant (DC) is responsible for delivering quality clinical trial design, development andconsultancy to our pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device and CRO customers. They will provide support in termsof training, mentoring and consulting to the DC team and to the customer whilst continuing to work with other departmentsto meet the customer requirements. They are expected to take a lead role in the review of design processes and in theroll-out of new and upgraded products.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Act as the design expert advising customers to ensure that the trial design meets the customer s requirements andutilizes the full benefits and functionality of InForm

  • Work as a high profile member of the project team to develop and maintain excellent customer relationships

  • Gather and interpret customer requirements or study protocol and using Oracle s trial design software, translate theseinto design specifications

  • Work with the study team and sales department to scope required effort, define timelines and plan resourcing

  • Provide advice and implement study design related changes throughout the trial life-cycle

  • Provide training and mentoring support to new team members, including independent review of design specifications

  • Support sales department in demonstrations and other pre-sales activities

  • Provide mentoring support to customers/partners

  • Provide input into and review new product requirement documentation and functional specifications to assess impact onthe trial design team

  • Contribute to new product identification, roll-out and implementation

  • Participate in design consultancy activities, including the development and delivery of presentations, workshops, trainingand other customer service offerings

  • Assist the design team in proactive engagement with other departments to resolve issues or provide assistance to theteam

  • Demonstrate the ability and willingness to travel to customer sites, up to 25%

Competency Requirements:

  • A good understanding of the clinical trial process, preferably from a clinical data management perspective

  • Able to review and interpret clinical trial documentation e.g. protocols

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team and/or independent environment

  • A familiarity with database structures and the logic used in programming languages

  • Excellent eye for detail

  • Excellent communication skills including presenting, coaching, facilitating discussions and brainstorming

  • Innovative and proactive approach to the design process

  • Ability to manage and organize multiple tasks and project deliverables

  • Comprehensive knowledge of internet technology and MS Office applications, to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • A demonstrated ability for training, including coaching and mentoring skills

  • Proven team leadership skills, including direct line reporting

  • Excellent knowledge of departmental and company processes and procedures

  • Ability to manage and resolve issues within and between departments

  • Experience with InForm and Oracle's trial design software in a customer facing role
